In this workshop you will work with silver clay. By using a choice of moulds you can push the clay into a mould and create a cast detail which will be fired in the kiln first at 200 degrees and then again at 780 degrees. The clay like binder disintegrates and you are left with pure silver. You will then make the silver brooch from scratch using a variety of jewellery techniques. The finished cast design will then be soldered onto the brooch. If you wish to include a gemstone then a setting will be soldered on before the final polish. After polishing you will then be shown how to set the gemstone. There is a large choice of moulds for you to choose from.
Gemstones are purchased separately and prices depend on type and size. Prices for gemstones are from £3.
This workshop will take approximately 3 - 4 hours.
